What is Volkswagen 4MOTION®?
When you're shopping for a new Volkswagen, is enhanced traction and stability a priority of yours? If so, you'll love the lineup of VW models equipped with 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. 4MOTION® is the exclusive all-wheel drive system created by Volkswagen to enhance some of its SUV models. Like other all-wheel drive systems, 4MOTION® shifts power and torque from just the front wheels to all four. This allows your Tiguan or Atlas Cross Sport to grip the road no matter what weather or road conditions come your way. The team at our Volkswagen dealership near Hialeah, FL, can show you our selection of AWD Volkswagen SUVs and help you explore VW ID.4 price options.
How Does VW 4MOTION® Work?
Curious how Volkswagen 4MOTION® works? With the 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system, power is distributed between the front and rear axles of the vehicle. When road conditions are clear, power is sent mainly to the front axle for increased optimal fuel efficiency. If your vehicle loses traction, 4MOTION® sends power to both axles to avoid wheelspin. The 4MOTION® system continuously adjusts power distribution based on the terrain you're driving on.
What VW Models have AWD?
Not every Volkswagen model offers 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. The AWD VW vehicles include the 2021 Atlas Cross Sport, 2021 Tiguan and 2021 Atlas. However, 4MOTION® all-wheel drive does not come standard on the Volkswagen Tiguan or Atlas Cross Sport. Only certain trims can be equipped with 4MOTION®. On the other hand, all VW Atlas trims come with 4MOTION®. You can also expect to see available 4MOTION® all-wheel drive offered on the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 and 2022 Volkswagen Taos.
